With a mission to educate and spread awareness about today's most talked about environmental issues.
The Ecology Center has developed a comprehensive curriculum that is both imaginative and experiential. The core programs offered at the eco-educational center are also geared toward people of all-ages.
FARM to FORK - Kids Cooking Classes at The Ecology Center
WHEN: First Saturday morning of every month, 9:00 - 10:30am
WHERE: The Ecology Center at South Coast Organic Farm, Alipaz & Camino del Avion
San Juan Capistrano, CA

Starting in the garden at South Coast Organic Farm, we will be teaching kids about where food
comes from, how to become more eco-friendly and some simple small plate meals to prepare for
themselves and their families.
The cooking classes are be $22.00 per child with 50% of class sales going directly to The Ecology Center
towards their ongoing efforts.
n Culinary Birthday Parties Ages 7-14
The birthday parties are offered with a minimum of 4 kids and are geared towards ages 7-14 years old.
Menu's are customized for each party and each child gets recipe cards and the birthday girl or boy gets
an "In the Kitchen with Kids Cooking School" apron.
Sample Party Menus:
Brunch - Parfaits/Fruit Pizza, Baked French Toast/Banana Waffles, Frittata/Creamy Basil Omelet
Lunch - Creamy Orange Fruit Dip, Wraps, Broccoli Mac N Cheese/Chinese Chicken Salad
Dinner - Creamy Chicken Enchilada's, Secret Ingredient Chili or White Mountain Pizza, Salad
Using the kid-friendly cookbook, "In the Kitchen with Kids", we'll be teaching youth
cooking classes and some kitchen basics along with helping them try out some favorite
small plate recipes. We use the freshest and best ingredients in our recipes with a focus
on fruits, vegetables, whole grains and light dairy. Students will take home recipes cards
of each recipe taught in class along with an apron with their first visit.

IN THE KITCHEN WITH KIDS visits Cooking with Julie Cooking School - Hands-on
For ages 9 and up. Barbara Hughston author of In the Kitchen with Kids is joining Julie Logue-Riordan, cooking school owner and culinary professional for 4 days of cooking with kids only. We will learn the kitchen basics, safety, and how to work with recipes. Each day we will make 3-4 different recipes that will be healthy and nutritious. Here are some of the recipes: Whole grain pancakes, Family Style Cheese Frittata, the 101 on smoothies, Momma's Mac & Cheese, Chicken soup with vegetables from the farmers market and a fruit crisp.
